Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference opened today, June 8, with Tim Cook delivering his final WWDC keynote before handing the CEO role to John Ternus on September 1. According to Bloomberg reporting aggregated by Build Fast with AI, the centrepiece announcement is a completely rebuilt Siri powered by a custom 1.2-trillion-parameter Google Gemini model, licensed at roughly $1 billion per year — a deal Apple and Google confirmed publicly in January 2026. Apple is also introducing an Extensions system letting users choose between Gemini, ChatGPT, and Anthropic's Claude as the AI behind Apple Intelligence features, ending OpenAI's exclusivity inside the iPhone. iOS 27, macOS 27, and AI-enhanced Photos editing tools are also expected.
