Anthropic has announced a major London expansion, securing a 158,000 square foot office at Regent's Place in London's Knowledge Quarter — with capacity for 800 staff. The company currently employs more than 200 people in the UK, including roughly 60 AI safety researchers. The move comes days after OpenAI established a permanent 544-seat London office, its first outside the US. Both expansions follow a UK government campaign to attract American AI companies. Anthropic's head of EMEA north, Pip White, described London as a core research and commercial hub outside the US. The simultaneous expansion by the two leading frontier labs signals that London is cementing its position as Europe's primary AI research destination.
