Anthropic published its September threat intelligence report, covering operations it disrupted between December 2025 and August 2026. TechNode and Tech Times highlight the espionage findings: a threat actor Anthropic tracks as GTG-20006, linked to the Russian group Midnight Blizzard, targeted military intelligence bodies, government agencies, diplomatic organisations and defence firms in Ukraine and Europe. A fleet of thirteen standing collection agents ran on a scheduled job, pulling content from target websites including publicly accessible US military and government pages. The report spans seven harm areas, from cyber operations and influence campaigns to surveillance, fraud and distillation. Anthropic says it blocked five separate attempts by scientists to use Claude for research supporting biological weapons work, one of them a gain-of-function study intended for a military institute.
