MacRumors reports that a code researcher surfaced two new frameworks in iOS 27 and macOS builds — a Model Delegation entitlement and an Inference Provider Protocol — that would let third-party AI services receive Apple's native Siri planner prompt and make system-level tool calls, effectively standing in for Apple's own server model. Today only ChatGPT is wired in, through the 'Ask...' handoff menu, and the delegation entitlement is not open to third parties. Code found in a beta is not a shipped feature, and Apple has announced nothing. Still, it is the clearest signal yet that Apple is building the plumbing for a swappable assistant rather than betting everything on its own models. Whether any outside lab actually gets the entitlement is the open question.
