At Apple's WWDC 2026 keynote on June 8, the company introduced an AI Extensions system for iOS 27 that lets users choose which AI model powers their Siri experience. According to TechCrunch's WWDC recap, the three options at launch are Google Gemini (the default), ChatGPT, and Anthropic's Claude — marking Claude's first native availability on iPhone. Apple also added Claude to its Foundation Models developer framework, allowing third-party app developers to call Claude directly from Apple's on-device APIs. The move significantly expands Anthropic's consumer distribution. Siri AI features using the new Extensions system require an iPhone 17 Pro or later to run.
